FINALLY POSTED PICTURES!!
Fashion dilletantes will tell you that Tokyo has replaced Paris as the fashion capital of the world...and I gotta agree. It's not that Tokyoites dress any better than Parisian, it's just that the people here,hm..how do I say it in a good way, are more er, adventurous with their fashion. What I mean by this is that it seems that EVERY kind of fashion out there is on display here ALL the time. The definition for adventurous is school girls who shorten their formal school skirts to MICRO LOOK AT ME AS I BEND OVER TO GRAB MY BAG WHEEE skirts.
Props to however took this pic. (This means I did NOT take this picture)
Aanyways, it's not just school girls who are adventurous, salary men can also be quite adventurous - like the 40 year something salary man dressed in purple with an afro i saw a while ago. God I wish I had a picture but boy the only way I can describe him is he was super-righteous! Wherever that guy is, you know he's probably single-handedly working to bringing disco back!
Anyways, to enlighten you on Japanese fashion is not the point of this blog entre! There are books written about that stuff! Rather, this is for me to show off the various fashions that I've purchased in Tokyo! Hurrah for narcisism!
So since every one is a fan of labels, I suppose that if I had to choose a fashion label for myself, I'd choose lazy-burberry-wanna-be. Why lazy? Because a part of me is super lazy and if I could I would stay in my PJs all day but if I do that I'd get ostracized out of my homestay. I'm not kidding - no one here tolerates it! But I'm lazy cause I want to do the least work possible to look semi-fabulous - no fancy hair treatment, no fancy creams etc. When i wake up I just wanna wash face/brush teeth etc, throw on clothes and GO! Also why Burberry-wanna-be? Cause Burberry is EXPENSIVE!!! I rememberedmy first time in a Burberry store cause I lasted 10 seconds. A scarf with the design I liked was $300 so now I just go in Burberry to see what I should be wearing and then I try to find imitations at the local Uniqlo on sale. LOL it sucks being poor!
Anyways, here are some pics of me, myself, and my clothes:
The first example comes to us from H&M for Y2000 on super sale. The pockets were sewn together and only when I took a risk did I discover that I indeed had pockets! But anyways do I look like the Duke of Kensington or what? This has come to be my main jacket whenever I wanna strut my stuff with the locals.Excuse me, I do believe I'm quite late for afternoon tea at the country club!
The second example is also from H&M (what can I say except their sales were great) but since the pockets were usable from the beginning, it costs Y3000! If the last one was cocktail-party then this jacket is Japan's equivalent of casual friday. Not too flashy but not too austere, I like it. Some say the fit is too big for me but thats fine cause I wanted a comfortable jacket.
This third one is from some Japan store that had a sale in Harajuku for 1700. It's an interesting black dress shirts and because I did not have a black dress shirt and, well, here is the result. The buttons really attracted me to this shirt but I have to admit that it was a tad pricy. If I bought a regular dress shirt and sewed my OWN colored buttons on, it could have been less.
The final entry, for now, comes to us via way of UNIQLO the cheap ass clothes store in Japan for 600. Now before I comment on this, I have to say I HATE uniqlo cause their designs mainly involve a single ostentatious color in order to "standout" while minimizing costs. Thus you get things like heretic-vomit-spewing purple jackets, grotesque-slime-ooze teal jackets, solar-powered-eye-burning orange sweaters and all-you-can-eat-naan-curry-poop brown pants. Ok, so maybe the brown pants aren't so bad but you can imagine I hate most of the stuff at uniqlo and would avoid it like models avoid cake ...except things are so darn cheap!!!
Anyways, this turtle neck was of a good color, as in not magenta, and it was cheap and I needed something warm. Not to mention I think it looks nice - it brings out my um.....eyes? It was so nice that I bought the same turtle neck in a dark brown color
Finally here are some things I've received from my famry and friends to add to my fashion collection. Fabulous gifts! Thank you!
So, here is the end of my fashion escapades in the capital of fashion...until the next mega sale I see anyways. If you think I look like butt, feel free to tell me. No offense will be taken.
And, hell for the heck of it, if you wanna see me dressed in something, please tell me what cause I'm open minded ; ]
